How to measure your dog for the perfect fitting collar

How to measure your dog for the perfect fitting collar

Many pet parents struggle finding the right fit for their dogs collars. An ill-fitting collar can be uncomfortable or even unsafe. In this guide we will show you exactly how to measure your dog so you get the perfect fit every time.

Why proper sizing matters

  • Prevents chafing
  • Ensures your dog can't slip out of their collar
  • Improves comfort during walks or play
  • Makes your dog look and feel great!

What you will need

  • A soft measuring tape or even a piece of string and a ruler

Measuring for a collar

  1. Find the spot on your dogs neck where the collar naturally sits (typically mid neck)
  2. Wrap the measuring tape snugly but not tightly and adjust to allow approximately a two finger gap, then note down the measurements

This is often referred to as the 'two finger rule'. You should be able to fit two fingers between the collar and your dogs neck.
